Description
Getting behind the rifle the same way every time is what separates a repeatable position from a frustrating one. This MDT Vertical Adjustment Buttpad swaps out the fixed pad on your chassis or buttstock for one that slides up and down, left and right, and even tips on cant. That means your recoil pad settles into your shoulder pocket exactly where your body wants it, which is a big deal for prone shooting and long strings behind glass.
The whole assembly is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, so it holds its setting under recoil and shrugs off range abuse without adding much heft at right around 0.4 pounds. It adds about 0.57 inches to your length of pull, and from the neutral spot you get roughly 2 inches of vertical travel up and 0.67 inches down. Side to side you have about 0.28 inches each way for 0.55 inches of total horizontal adjustment, plus the ability to cant the pad to match how your shoulder actually sits.
Where the Vertical Adjustment Buttpad Fits
This one is built for the MDT ecosystem. It works with the XRS Chassis System, the HNT26 (not weight optimized), and the ORYX Sportsman chassis, along with MDT's SRS-Lite, SCS-Lite, and CCS buttstocks. If you're running one of those platforms and want more tuning range than the stock pad gives you, this is the piece that gets you there.
Setting Up Your MDT Adjustable Buttpad
Installation is straightforward with a couple of Allen wrenches. You pull the two factory buttpad screws with a 5/32 inch wrench, mount the adjustment base to the stock using the provided hardware, then slide the dovetail pad in and lock it down with the set screw and thumbwheel. The thumbwheel lets you nudge height on the fly, so tweaking your position between stages or from prone to a barricade takes seconds. LOP spacers can be stacked in behind the base if you need to stretch things out even further.

Frequently Asked Questions
What rifles and stocks does the MDT Vertical Adjustment Buttpad fit?
It's designed for the MDT lineup, including the XRS Chassis System, the HNT26 (noted as not weight optimized), and the ORYX Sportsman chassis. It also works with MDT's SRS-Lite, SCS-Lite, and CCS buttstocks. If you're on one of those platforms, it drops right in place of your existing fixed pad.
How much adjustment does the vertical buttpad give me?
From the neutral position you get about 2 inches of upward travel and 0.67 inches down, plus roughly 0.28 inches of horizontal movement to each side for 0.55 inches total. You can also cant the pad to match the angle of your shoulder. On top of that, it adds about 0.57 inches to your length of pull.
Is the MDT adjustable buttpad hard to install?
Not at all. You remove the two factory pad screws with a 5/32 inch Allen wrench, bolt the adjustment base onto the stock with the included hardware using a 1/8 inch wrench, then slide the dovetail pad in and secure it. Once it's mounted, the thumbwheel lets you change height quickly without pulling any screws.
What is the buttpad made of and how much does it weigh?
The base and slider are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, which keeps everything solid under recoil and stands up to hard range use. The whole assembly weighs about 0.4 pounds, so you get real adjustability without loading down the back end of your rifle.
