The Unity Tactical SPARK is one of those little pieces of kit that punches way above its size. Roughly an inch and a half square and weighing well under an ounce, it started life as a safety light for workers on oil platforms before finding a home in the tactical world. Wrap it onto a helmet, plate carrier, chest rig, or pretty much anything else that needs to be seen, and you have a low-profile red marker that stays out of the way until you need it.
Operation is about as simple as it gets. Press the center of the silicone housing to cycle through the output modes, and you get a positive tactile click each time so you can run it by feel even when it's mounted somewhere you can't see. The current version steps through constant-on high, constant-on low, blink, and off, giving you steady light for low-light work or a pulsing strobe when you want to grab attention. The whole thing is fully encapsulated in a flexible silicone body, so it shrugs off water and takes a beating without complaint.
The SPARK comes with a hook backing that sticks right to loop fields already on most helmets and carriers. Pair it with the separate SPARK Cage accessory and you can weave it onto webbing or snap it to metal surfaces thanks to built-in magnets, which opens up mounting on vehicles and hard gear. The red LED is a solid pick for active IFF, marking teammates, tagging equipment, or keeping tabs on a K9 in the dark.
Battery life is a genuine strong point here. The single-use cell delivers a 200-plus hour runtime, which is why these get issued in bulk to agencies and units. It's a disposable design meant to be used hard and swapped out, not fussed over.
