The Ultradyne UD6 Picatinny Chassis takes their proven UD platform and builds it specifically for the Ruger American Short Action, giving Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners a real upgrade over the factory polymer stock. Instead of the usual buffer tube setup out back, this version runs a Picatinny rail interface, so the entire buttstock pulls off in seconds for cases, packs, or tight truck storage. It comes machined from a single bar of 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum, built in a right hand configuration, and finished in black to drop right onto your existing Short Action barreled action.
That Picatinny rear mount is the reason this particular UD6 exists. Pull the retention pins and the stock comes free for compact transport, then goes right back on without throwing off your zero. It is a small change from the standard buffer tube chassis, but it makes a real difference for anyone who breaks their rifle down between trips to the range or the field.
Ultradyne put real thought into fit here. The chassis accepts their adjustable grip system, so trigger finger reach can be dialed in instead of settling for whatever angle the factory setup gave you. An adjustable thumb rest lets you set hand position for a cleaner cheek weld and more consistent trigger pull, and a built-in holder up front keeps two spare rounds within reach without needing a separate sidesaddle.
The rest of the chassis is built the way a precision rifle should be. V-channel bedding locks the action into place and handles free-floated barrels up to 1.35 inches in diameter, covering most factory and aftermarket Short Action barrels. The forend carries a full-length integrated ARCA rail with M-LOK slots on three sides for bipods, weights, or accessory rails, and the mag well is set up for AICS-pattern detachable magazines if you want quicker reloads than the factory Ruger magazine offers.
No, the chassis is sold as the body itself, with the buttstock and grip sold separately. Since it uses a Picatinny rear interface, it works with mil-spec AR grips and Ultradyne's own adjustable grip and stock options, so you can pick exactly what you want.
This UD6 is built for the Ruger American Short Action, and it fits both Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions of that action. It will not fit long action or Ranch models, so double check your action length before ordering.
