Why the chevrons matter
Tyrant CNC machined two deep chevrons into the rear surface that point upward toward your rear sight. This textured pattern naturally guides your eye into proper sight alignment, which can help you develop better fundamentals without thinking about it. The beveled shape of the chevron pattern provides grip in both directions too, making the plate easier to handle when you need to field strip or maintain your pistol. Durable aluminum versus plastic
That factory plastic cover plate will get dinged up, discolor, and eventually crack. This aluminum plate is designed to take years of handling. The hard coat anodizing in gold not only looks distinctive on your Gen5, but it also protects the metal underneath. You can color match it with other Tyrant CNC components or let it stand alone as the finishing touch. Drop-in installation
This isn't a complicated upgrade. You don't need special tools – it comes right off and on in under a couple of minutes. The plate fits Gen5 Glock models from the G17 down through the G45 and everything in between, as long as it's Gen5. Once it's installed, your firing pin assembly locks in just like before, so there's no functional change to your pistol whatsoever.
This plate is designed for all Gen5 Glock models 17 through 45, which covers full-size, compact, and subcompact Gen5 pistols. If you have a Gen5 G17, G19, G19X, G26, G34, G45, or anything in between, you're good to go. It won't fit Gen1-4 models or the slimline G43X/G48, so double-check your generation before ordering.
No, this is purely a cosmetic and durability upgrade. The plate does the same job as the factory plastic version – it secures your firing pin assembly at the rear of the slide. Your pistol will cycle, fire, and operate exactly as before. You're just getting aluminum durability and gold aesthetics instead of plastic that will degrade over time.
It's one of the easiest upgrades you can do. You don't need any special tools, and it takes under two minutes. Simply press out the factory plate, line up the new one, and press it in until it seats. If you can field strip your Glock, you can install this plate.
