Description

The True Precision TP/22 is a fluted, compensated bull barrel built to squeeze real accuracy out of the Ruger 10/22 and TP/22 platforms. It starts life as a Shaw Barrels custom rifled 416R stainless blank, gets a .22LR Bentz match chamber, and finishes with a 1:16 twist for tight, repeatable groups with quality .22LR loads. The Flat Dark Earth coating gives it a clean, understated look that pairs well with just about any build.

What the Bentz Chamber Brings to the TP/22

The factory 10/22 chamber is cut loose so it swallows anything you feed it, and that generosity is the enemy of accuracy. The Bentz chamber sits tighter, holding the case and bullet more consistently at ignition, which is a big part of why bull barrels like this one shoot circles around a stock tube. It runs best with standard-velocity and match-grade ammo, so feed it good stuff and it rewards you. One thing worth knowing: skip CCI Stingers, since their longer case isn't a fit for a Bentz-style chamber.

The Integrated Comp on the TP/22 Barrel

Instead of hanging a device off the muzzle, True Precision built the compensator right into the barrel with forward multi-port venting. That knocks down muzzle rise and helps you stay on target for faster follow-ups without adding length or bulk up front. The comp is internally threaded too, so down the road you can add adapter plugs for threaded attachments or bypass the ports entirely.

Fitting the TP/22 to Your Rifle

Swapping a 10/22 barrel is one of the easiest upgrades in the rimfire world. Pull the action, back out the V-block screws, slide the old barrel off and drop this one in, then torque the block back down. Plan on a stock with a full bull-profile barrel channel, since this .920-style profile won't seat in a narrow factory carbine channel without relieving it. Between the fluted stainless build, the Bentz chamber, and the built-in comp, this is a practical way to build a rifle that shoots well above its weight for target work and small game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the TP/22 barrel require gunsmithing to install on a Ruger 10/22?

No gunsmithing is needed. It's a drop-in swap that uses the factory V-block, so you just remove the action, take out the block screws, change barrels, and torque everything back down. Most people knock it out in about 15 to 20 minutes with basic hex wrenches.

Will this bull barrel fit in my factory 10/22 stock?

It uses a heavy bull profile, so it needs a stock with a full bull-barrel channel. A standard factory carbine stock has a narrow channel that won't clear it without being opened up, and most aftermarket stocks are already cut for the larger diameter. If you're running a factory wood stock, plan on relieving the channel or grabbing a bull-profile stock.

What ammo works best with the Bentz match chamber?

The Bentz chamber is cut tighter than a factory chamber, so it shines with standard-velocity and match-grade .22LR. Cheap bulk ammo can feed but may not group as well or may get the bullet scuffed on the way in. Steer clear of CCI Stingers, since their longer case isn't suited to a Bentz-style chamber.

Can I add a suppressor or muzzle device to the TP/22 comp?

The integrated compensator is internally threaded, so it's designed to accept True Precision adapter plugs. Those inserts let you bypass the ports or mount standard threaded attachments when you want to. Out of the box, the built-in multi-port comp handles muzzle rise on its own.
