Description

The True Precision Cobra Comp takes the same proven internal geometry from the brand's S-Type and Y-Type micro comps and stretches the body just a touch longer for extra leverage over muzzle rise. What sets it apart is that timed center port. Instead of venting gas in every direction like the look-alike thread protectors out there, the Cobra directs gas straight up to push the muzzle down as the slide cycles. The payoff is a sight picture that settles faster, so your dot or irons track flatter and your follow-up shots come quicker. It threads onto standard 1/2×28 barrels and fits most 9mm and .380 pistols set up for a threaded muzzle.

What the Cobra Comp Brings to Your Build

This is the boldest-looking of the True Precision micro comp lineup, with that aggressive front profile that earned it the Cobra name. It measures roughly an inch long and about three-quarters of an inch in diameter, and it weighs in around three-quarters of an ounce, so it adds control without turning your pistol front-heavy. The black DLC finish is tough, resists heat and carbon fouling, and pairs cleanly with a matching threaded barrel and slide for a cohesive look on the range or at a match.

Getting the Cobra Comp Timed Right

Installation is straightforward, and timing is where the magic happens. You want that center port facing straight up at twelve o'clock and locked there to get the full effect. The included tension lock O-ring lets you install it hand-tight and helps keep it from backing off under recoil, though plenty of folks add a dab of medium-strength thread locker for a more permanent hold. Keep in mind that adding weight to the muzzle and cutting recoil can change how a semi-auto cycles, so some guns may want a tweak to the recoil spring, ammo, or lubrication to run their best.

Built to Handle the Round Count

Machined right here in the USA from solid 416R stainless bar stock, the Cobra Comp is built to hold up through long range sessions and high round counts. It is a practical, purpose-built upgrade for anyone chasing flatter tracking and faster sight recovery without the bulk of a full-size comp.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Cobra Comp fit my pistol?

The Cobra Comp threads onto any standard 1/2×28 muzzle and works with most 9mm and .380 pistols set up with a threaded barrel. It was designed to pair perfectly with True Precision barrels, but it plays nice with other common threaded barrels too. If your pistol already runs a threaded barrel in 1/2×28, you are good to go.

How do I time the Cobra Comp correctly?

You want the center port facing straight up at the twelve o'clock position and locked there. That upward gas direction is what pushes the muzzle down and cuts the climb, so timing matters. The included tension lock O-ring lets you snug it hand-tight, and a dab of medium-strength thread locker is optional if you want a more permanent hold.

How does the Cobra Comp compare to the S-Type and Y-Type micro comps?

The Cobra keeps the same proven internal geometry as the S-Type and Y-Type but adds a slightly longer body for a touch more leverage over muzzle rise. It also wears the most aggressive front profile in the lineup, which is where the name comes from. Think of it as the bolder sibling with a bit more bite.

Do I need to change anything on my pistol after installing it?

Adding weight to the muzzle and reducing recoil can affect how a semi-auto cycles, so some pistols may run best with a tweak to the recoil spring, ammunition, or lubrication. Most guns run fine as-is, but it is worth watching for reliable cycling during your first range trip. A quick check of the comp for tightness after shooting is smart too.
