Trijicon's RMR Type 2 earned its reputation the hard way, surviving the kind of abuse that shelves lesser optics. This RM06-C-700676 runs a 3.25 MOA adjustable LED red dot, which is the sweet spot plenty of folks reach for first. That finer dot gives you a cleaner aiming point for precision work at distance while staying quick enough for close-up shooting. The patented forged 7075-T6 aluminum housing is shaped to absorb impact and divert stress away from the lens, and the whole unit is sealed, nitrogen filled, and waterproof down to around 66 feet.
The Type 2 brought ruggedized electronics and upgraded battery contacts, which is a big deal on slide-mounted pistols where recoil has historically given earlier red dots trouble. It runs on a single CR2032 battery with over four years of continuous use at a mid-range setting. You get eight brightness settings total, including two night vision compatible levels and one super-bright mode for bright daylight. The dot runs parallax free with unlimited eye relief, so both eyes stay open and the dot goes wherever you look.
Windage and elevation adjust in 1 MOA clicks with audible, tactile feedback, and you get 150 MOA of total adjustment range. You can run it in full auto mode where it reads ambient light, or take manual control with the plus and minus buttons on either side. There's also a button lockout that keeps it in automatic mode so you don't bump a setting mid-use, and after 16.5 hours it defaults back to auto on its own.
This particular configuration ships with the RM35 mount, which is designed to sit the RMR on top of a 3.5x, 4x, or 5.5x ACOG with bosses. That makes it a natural piece for anyone running a magnified Trijicon setup who wants a fast close-range aiming solution riding above the main optic. The open emitter design keeps things compact and lightweight at just 1.2 ounces with the battery installed.
The included RM35 is an ACOG mount designed to position the RMR on top of 3.5x, 4x, and 5.5x Trijicon ACOG models that have mounting bosses. It lets you run the red dot as a fast close-range sight riding above your magnified optic. If you plan to mount the RMR directly to a pistol slide or a Picatinny rail, you'd use a different footprint-specific plate or mount.
It runs on a single CR2032 lithium battery and delivers over four years of continuous use at brightness setting 4 of 8. The battery conservation feature also defaults the optic back to automatic mode after 16.5 hours to help stretch runtime. Trijicon recommends swapping the battery annually just to stay ahead of it.
The 3.25 MOA dot is the most popular size Trijicon offers in this line, and for good reason. It's fine enough for precise aiming at distance but still fast to pick up for close-range shooting. Larger 6.5 MOA dots favor pure speed while this one strikes a solid balance.
