There's a lot to like about a 20 gauge autoloader that weighs in around 6.2 pounds, and the Viper G2 Pro makes the most of it. TriStar built this one on a gas-operated action that soaks up recoil and cycles everything from light target loads to heavy 3 inch waterfowl shells, thanks to a two piston system with the spare piston stashed right in the forearm where you can swap it in the field. That kind of flexibility means one gun handles the dove field in September and the duck blind in December without complaint.
The Pro version of the Viper G2 got a real upgrade in the controls department. The bolt handle and bolt release are oversized, the triangular safety is enlarged, and the mag well is opened up so feeding shells with cold or gloved hands is far less of a fumble. TriStar also added over-molded rubber grip panels on the stock and forend, which give you a sure hold when the weather turns wet. The 28 inch vent rib barrel wears a matted sight plane and a fiber optic front sight that pops in low light, and the chrome-lined chamber and barrel shrug off the abuse that comes with real hunting seasons.
This particular model dresses the synthetic stock in Mossy Oak Terra Bayou while the receiver and barrel wear a flat dark earth finish, a combo that blends into marsh grass and timber alike while resisting rust and scratches. Sling swivel studs come standard, and the manual E-Z Load magazine cut-off lets you swap the chambered shell without emptying the tube, handy when a different bird presents itself.

Yes, the gas system is designed to run everything from light target loads up to heavy 3 inch waterfowl shells. It uses a two piston setup, and the secondary piston stores in the forearm so you can swap it depending on the loads you're running. Like most gas guns, the lightest bargain promo shells can be finicky, so stick with quality 7/8 oz or 1 oz loads for the smoothest cycling.
The barrel is threaded for the Beretta/Benelli Mobil pattern, which is one of the most common choke systems out there, so aftermarket options are everywhere. Three tubes come in the box: improved cylinder, modified, and full, along with a choke case and wrench.
