The front post is slimmed down to .122 inches, which opens up your field of view so you can see more of the target instead of covering it up. That thinner post makes a real difference when you're stretching a Springfield XD, XD-M, or XD Mod.2 out past close-range distances, and it still gives you the fast, eye-grabbing pickup that made the original HDs a favorite.
The front sight wears a bright photoluminescent ring, yellow on this set, that charges up in daylight and glows in low light. Inside that ring sits a green tritium lamp capped with a domed sapphire jewel. The dome focuses the tritium glow into an aiming point that reads about twice as bright as a standard lamp, so your eye snaps right to the front sight whether you're in a lit room or total dark. The sapphire cap does double duty too, shielding the lamp from cleaning solvents and adding a layer of protection.
The rear is a subdued U-notch with two black-outlined green tritium dots that keep your focus pulled forward to the front sight. It's angled and serrated to cut glare, and the forward face is squared off so you can rack the slide one-handed off a belt or hard edge if you ever need to.
