The Trijicon HD XR set is the go-to sight upgrade for H&K shooters who want a sharper picture at speed. It swaps the factory sights for a photoluminescent orange front ring paired with a blacked-out rear, so your eye snaps to the front post without competing dots pulling your focus. Three green tritium lamps keep all three references glowing when the sun goes down, and those lamps run on tritium with no batteries to worry about.
The XR builds on Trijicon's proven HD line with a thinner front sight post. That narrower blade opens up your field of view and gives you a more precise hold, which pays off when you're identifying a target or stretching your distance a little. The rear uses a U-shaped notch with a face that's angled and serrated, and that angle can be used to rack the slide one-handed off a belt or boot in a pinch. It's a design that came out of real law enforcement feedback, so it holds up well for duty, carry, or general range work.
Each tritium lamp is capped with a sapphire jewel that spreads the light evenly and shields the lamp from punctures and cleaning solvents. The green tritium is warranted for 12 years from the date of manufacture, so you're getting a long service life out of the glow. Steel construction means these hold zero and take a beating without complaint.
This exact set fits the H&K .45C, .45C Tactical, P30, P30L, P30SK, and the VP9, but not the VP9 Optics Ready model. Sights are a press fit into the dovetail, and Trijicon recommends professional installation. If you're comfortable with a proper sight pusher and take your time, plenty of owners handle the swap at home, but a gunsmith gets it dialed in fast if you'd rather not risk it.
Yes, this set fits the standard H&K VP9 along with the .45C, .45C Tactical, P30, P30L, and P30SK. The one exception is the VP9 Optics Ready model, which uses a different sight cut and is not covered here. If your slide has an optic cut, double-check your model before ordering.
The XR version uses a thinner front sight post than the original HD. That narrower blade gives you a wider view of the target and a more precise aiming point, which helps at longer distances and during faster shooting. Everything else, including the tritium lamps and colored front ring, carries over from the proven HD line.
No batteries required. The three green dots glow using tritium lamps, and each one is capped with a sapphire jewel that spreads the light and protects it from solvents and impacts. Trijicon warranties the tritium for 12 years from the date of manufacture, so you get a long stretch of reliable low-light glow.
Trijicon recommends professional installation, and a gunsmith can knock it out quickly. That said, many owners do the swap at home with a proper sight pusher rather than a hammer and punch. Take your time getting the rear centered and you'll end up with a clean, secure fit.
