The Tricer BC V2 is built for hunters who live behind their glass and count every ounce in the pack. At 26.8 ounces it earns its spot on a deep backcountry trip, and the redesign packs about 25 percent slimmer in diameter and two inches shorter than the original, so it slides into a side pocket instead of hogging real estate on your frame. The inverted three-section leg design is the heart of this thing. The largest 1 1/8 inch section sits on the ground with a 1 inch middle and a 7/8 inch upper, which puts the stiffest carbon where the leverage is worst and keeps flex to a minimum. That translates to a stable platform for everything from lightweight binoculars to a big spotting scope, and it handles a rifle when you want a shooting rest. The patent-pending Tri-Tek removable center column is where the versatility lives. A glove-friendly cam lock lever lets you adjust height fast or pull the column entirely, dropping the tripod down to a minimum height around 3.2 inches so it lays flat for prone glassing or shooting. It ships with a short center column included for that low profile, and the updated quarter-turn twist locks sit up at the head for the quickest, smoothest deployment on the market. Three set screws under the head lock your optic down and keep it from rotating on you.
The head mount uses the Arca-Swiss standard, so it plays nice with Tricer's own pan heads and just about any Arca setup in the hunting or photography world. There is even a built-in Allen key so you can tweak leg tension and set screws in the field without digging through your pack. It is built for glassing from a seated position, with a 40-inch max height when the center column is extended. If you want a standing-height tripod from the same lineup, the taller Tricer AD is the better fit. For sit-and-glass sessions on a knob or ridge, the BC V2 is right in the sweet spot.
