The classic triangle silhouette used to be an AK thing, but A3 Industries opened it up to just about any platform with a rear M1913 Picatinny rail. This 9-inch polymer version gets you the iconic look and real folding function without the weight penalty, tipping the scale right around 10.4 ounces. Think AKs, the Ruger PC Charger, SIG MPX/MCX/Rattler, UTAS UT9, and similar builds that run a rear pic rail.
The body is injection-molded from 30% fiber-reinforced Zytel by DuPont, which is a long way from cheap plastic. The material rivals aluminum for rigidity while shaving weight and coming in easier on the wallet than the machined 6061 version. You get a rear textured butt-plate for grip against the shoulder, and an included steel QD sling cup that can be set up on either the left or right side depending on how you carry.
Deployment comes from an Apex heavy-duty steel tensioned hinge that positively latches in the open position and snaps back out of the fold quickly when you need it. It folds left or right and locks up solid, which is exactly what you want out of a folder that sees regular handling. Feedback from folks running these consistently points to easy installation and a tight, wobble-free lock.
Length runs 9 inches from the stock end to the hinge, stretching to 9.5 inches if you add the optional rubber butt-pad. There are two QD sling mounts up front, and A3 offers an optional injection-molded rubber cheek rest and butt-pad if you want more comfort behind glass. One thing worth knowing before you buy: this stock does not clear the charging handle on the ACE Galil or UZI PRO, so plan around those two platforms.
