The TR Imports Sidekick takes that classic formula and adds the stuff people usually bolt on later: a Picatinny rail machined into the receiver, three interchangeable choke tubes, and in this package, a Konus Nuclear 1×22 dot sight already included so you're not shopping for an optic afterward.
The compact camo synthetic stock is sized for younger hunters and smaller framed adults, with a length of pull that runs 13.5 to 14.5 inches so the gun can grow a bit as its owner does. At roughly four and a half pounds, it carries easy on long walks to the squirrel woods, and the mild recoil of a .410 with a 3 inch chamber keeps first trips to the range fun instead of punishing. The break action design is about as straightforward as shotguns get, which makes it easy to check, easy to load, and easy to teach with.
The included Konus Nuclear 1×22 runs a 3 MOA dot you can switch between red and green with multiple brightness settings, so it works in dim timber at first light or full sun over a dove field. It mounts right to the receiver rail, offers unlimited eye relief, and it's built waterproof and fogproof, so a drizzly morning won't shut it down. For a new hunter, a dot sight is a real advantage. Put the dot on the target, keep both eyes open, and squeeze.
You get improved cylinder, modified, and full tubes in the common Mobil thread pattern, which covers everything from close flushing birds to tighter head shots on small game. There's also a fiber optic front sight on the barrel if you'd rather run it without the optic. All told, this is a complete starter rig, not just a bare gun.
