The Tisas 1911A1 Desperado lands in a pretty rare spot for a production pistol: a Commander-length 1911 chambered in both 9mm and .38 Super, finished in high-polish chrome, and backed by forged steel construction throughout. The frame is full-size forged carbon steel, the slide is Commander-length forged carbon steel, and the 4.25" barrel is cold hammer-forged with a Clark Para ramped feed ramp for reliable feeding with both cartridges. The whole package weighs in at 2 lbs 2 oz, which is about what you'd expect from an all-steel Commander.
The dual-caliber setup is the real story here. Tisas includes a complete barrel and magazine for both 9mm Luger and .38 Super, so switching between them is straightforward. The .38 Super is a genuinely underappreciated round with a flat trajectory and solid velocity out of a 4.25" tube, and having the 9mm barrel on hand means you can run readily available ammo whenever you want without owning two pistols. The internals are Colt Series 70-compatible, which keeps the trigger setup clean and means the vast majority of aftermarket 1911 parts will drop right in if you ever want to customize. Tisas also includes a titanium firing pin on current production models, which is a legitimate upgrade over a standard steel pin.
The high-polish chromium finish covers both the slide and frame and gives the gun a look that's hard to ignore at the range. It's paired with checkered Turkish walnut grips that feel good in the hand and add a classic, period-correct touch. Enhanced GI-style sights keep the profile traditional, rear cocking serrations give you a positive grip for press-checks and charging, and a flat mainspring housing rounds out the 1911 A1 ergonomic package. The beavertail grip safety is a welcome addition for higher-grip shooters. The caliber swap is a standard 1911 barrel change, nothing exotic about it. You swap the barrel and magazine for the other caliber, reassemble, and you're ready to go. Series 70 refers to the internal fire control design used by Colt from the early 1970s, which does not include a firing pin block safety. This setup is favored by many 1911 enthusiasts for its simpler, cleaner trigger feel and ease of tuning. This is actually a feature some 1911 owners add as an aftermarket upgrade, so having it come standard on the Desperado is a genuine plus.
The high-polish chromium coating on the Desperado is a hard chrome finish applied to both the slide and frame, which is known for being very tough and corrosion resistant. It does show fingerprints and handling marks more readily than a matte finish, so you'll want to wipe it down after use. For range use, it holds up well and actually has some practical benefits in terms of rust resistance.

Both pistols share the same dual-caliber 9mm/.38 Super concept and high-polish chrome finish, but the key difference is size.
