The Tisas 1911 Duty B45 is a full-size, single-action 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, and it's the kind of gun that makes people do a double-take when they hear the price. The Duty B45 runs on Series 70-style internals and comes from the factory with features you'd typically expect to pay a custom-shop premium for: an ambidextrous extended thumb safety, an extended beavertail grip safety, a skeletonized trigger and hammer, a lowered and flared ejection port, a beveled magazine well, and both front and rear slide serrations. Novak-style 3-dot white dot sights round out the package and give you a clean, familiar sight picture right out of the box. The trigger pull from the factory sits around 5.5 lbs per Tisas's own specs — manageable for most uses, and a solid starting point if you ever want to tune it further.
The 1911 Duty B45 ships with a lockable hard case, two 8-round magazines, a cleaning kit, bushing wrench, trigger lock, and instruction manual. That's a complete kit ready to go to the range without a separate trip to the accessories counter. The 1911 Duty B45 uses Series 70-style internals, which means there is no firing pin block. Many 1911 enthusiasts prefer the Series 70 design for its simpler trigger geometry, and it's one of the reasons the Duty B45 gets talked about favorably in 1911 circles. The trigger breaks cleanly and is a solid platform for anyone who wants to tune it further down the road.
The Duty B45 ships with two 8-round .45 ACP magazines. Because it's built on a standard Government-frame 1911 platform, it accepts virtually any standard single-stack 1911 .45 ACP magazine from brands like Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, MecGar, and others. The magazine well is also beveled, which helps with faster reloads.
Cerakote is one of the toughest firearm finishes available — it resists corrosion, wear, and most solvents better than traditional blued or parkerized finishes. The Duty B45's Cerakote is applied to both the forged steel frame and slide. Owners who carry the gun regularly report that the finish holds up very well even after extended use and frequent holstering.
It's actually a great entry point into the 1911 platform. The B45 (black Cerakote, carbon steel frame) model does not include a Picatinny accessory rail — that feature is found on certain other variants in the Tisas Duty lineup. If a rail is a priority for mounting a light or laser, check the other Duty series configurations that include a full-length dust cover with rail.
