Plenty of companies make a .22 that looks like an AR. Tippmann Arms went the other direction with the M4-22 LTE and built an M4-pattern carbine that happens to be chambered in .22 LR. The upper and lower receivers are aluminum, not polymer, and the controls all do what you expect: working charging handle, functional forward assist, familiar safety and mag release, and a bolt that locks back on the last round and stays locked even when you drop the magazine. That last detail matters more than it sounds, because it means your reload sequence is identical to a centerfire AR. Drop the empty, seat a fresh mag, hit the bolt release, back in business.
The blowback action runs on a 16 inch solid steel barrel with a parkerized finish and 1/2×28 threaded muzzle, so adding a suppressor or comp down the road is simple. Up front you get a composite free float M-LOK handguard, and the whole rifle rides on a six position collapsible stock that fits everyone from new shooters to full grown adults in winter layers. At just over five pounds it swings fast and carries easy. The trigger deserves a mention too. Tippmann ships these with a single stage trigger that breaks clean in the mid four pound range, noticeably better than the gritty mil-spec pulls a lot of centerfire ARs come with, and the fire control pocket accepts drop-in AR triggers if you ever want to upgrade.
The Robin Egg Blue accents cover the handguard, grip, charging handle, selector, mag release, dust cover, and forward assist against a matte black receiver set, and it looks sharp in person. Because the LTE is largely mil-spec compatible, most AR-15 stocks, grips, handguards, and sights will swap right on if you want to make it yours.
This version ships with a 10 round magazine built on Tippmann's easy load design. A sliding sleeve exposes the follower so you can pull it down and drop rounds in without fighting spring tension or sore thumbs. Flip-up front and rear sights come installed, and the flattop rail is ready for a red dot or scope whenever you are.
For the most part, yes. The LTE is largely mil-spec compatible, so most AR-15 stocks, grips, handguards, and sights will bolt right on, and the fire control pocket accepts drop-in AR triggers. The bolt and internals are rimfire specific, so those stay proprietary.
It does, and it works like a centerfire AR rather than the follower-driven systems most rimfire ARs use. The bolt stays locked open even after you pull the magazine, so you can insert a fresh mag and hit the bolt release to chamber a round. It makes this rifle a genuinely useful trainer for AR manual of arms.
It runs Tippmann's proprietary easy-load magazines, and this model ships with one 10-round mag. The outer sleeve slides down to expose the follower, so you can pull it down and load rounds without fighting the spring. Tippmann also makes 15 and 25 round versions plus a speed loader if you want to stock up.
This platform has a strong track record. Published testing has shown it running reliably across everything from bulk ammo to premium small game loads, with groups running from around an inch down to half-inch territory at 50 yards with ammo it likes.
