When Timney set out to build the best long-range trigger they've ever made for the Remington Model 700, this is what they landed on. The Hit is a self-contained, drop-in unit designed for competition and precision work, and it carries a nickel-plated straight shoe that gives your finger a flat, consistent reference point every time you settle in behind the rifle. If you've been fighting a heavy, creepy factory trigger, this is the upgrade that changes how the whole gun feels.
The headline feature is Timney's SEAL'd design, short for Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock. It locks in your sear engagement so your settings stay put, and it lets you dial pull weight and overtravel to your liking. Weight adjusts all the way down to a delicate 8 ounces and up to a full 2 pounds, so whether you like a hair trigger for bench work or something with a touch more resistance, you've got the range to find your sweet spot.
There's no cutting corners here. Every part is machined with modern tooling rather than metal injection molding or stamped pieces. The sear and trigger shoe are precision-machined and heat treated to 56 Rockwell, then finished with a black oxide coating on the shoe and an NP-3 plated sear for slick, low-friction cycling that holds up shot after shot. The housing is CNC-cut aluminum, and the whole assembly is hand tested and calibrated on an action before it leaves the factory.
This is a right-hand, straight trigger built for the Remington 700 platform, and it swaps in with a couple of pins in most rifles. Worth knowing up front, the straight shoe won't clear a Magpul Hunter stock, so plan around that if you're running one. It's backed by Timney's No Hassle Lifetime Warranty, which tells you how much faith they put behind it.
It's a self-contained drop-in unit, so most installs come down to knocking out the two trigger pins, swapping the assembly, and reinstalling the pins. You'll want to check the bolt release and slightly tweak the tip if needed so the bolt stop moves without binding, which is normal for any 700 trigger swap. Timney also recommends checking that the trigger clears the stock, since aftermarket triggers can run a touch wider than the factory piece. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, any gunsmith can knock it out quickly.
