The factory Ruger 10/22 trigger is famous for being one thing: heavy. Most stock units break somewhere in the 5 to 6 pound range with a mushy, gritty feel that holds back an otherwise great little rifle. Timney's answer is a full action replacement that ditches the factory guts entirely and drops in a hand-built assembly set to a clean 2.75 pounds. The difference at the range is night and day, and it's the kind of upgrade you feel on the very first shot.
This isn't a spring kit or a shim job. The housing is one-piece 6061-T6 billet aluminum, CNC machined and finished in silver with a contrasting black shoe. The trigger, sear, and hammer are wire EDM cut from steel and heat treated, so the parts that matter are built to hold up over the long haul. Every unit is assembled, calibrated, and tested by hand in the USA, which is why the break is so consistent from one trigger to the next. Expect a crisp let-off with no measurable creep, no side-to-side slop, and a short reset.
If you've ever pulled your 10/22 apart to clean it, you already know how to do this. Pop the barreled action out of the stock, push out the two action pins, and set the new assembly in place. That's genuinely the whole job, and Timney includes the cross pins you need. No gunsmith, no fitting, no filing.
Beyond the pull weight, Timney built in a couple of features that earn their keep. The extended magazine release can be worked with a single finger, which makes mag swaps quicker and easier for right or left-handed shooters. It also comes standard with an auto bolt release, so you can drop the bolt just by pulling it back rather than fumbling with the stock catch. For plinking, small game, or squeezing tighter groups out of a target build, this trigger is one of the most bang-for-buck upgrades you can make to a 10/22.

You pull the barreled action from the stock, push out the two factory action pins, set the Timney unit in place, and reinstall the pins that come with it. No gunsmith or fitting required.
It comes factory set at 2.75 pounds with no creep, and this particular model is non-adjustable. Timney calibrates and tests each one by hand, so the break is crisp and consistent right out of the box. If you want an adjustable option down the road, Timney's Calvin Elite line lets you tune reach and pull weight.
