The Timney Remington 700 Two-Stage Straight Trigger takes one of the best bolt actions ever built and gives it the trigger it always deserved. Where the factory Walker trigger tends to feel heavy and inconsistent, this two-stage design gives you a defined first stage of take-up followed by a crisp, predictable wall and break. That kind of feel is what lets you settle in, prep the shot, and squeeze without second-guessing yourself, which is exactly why so many precision and hunting builds run a Timney.
It ships factory calibrated with an 8-ounce first stage, and the second stage is fully adjustable so you can dial it to your preference. On top of pull weight, you can tune sear engagement and over-travel to get the exact feel you're after. The straight trigger shoe gives your finger a consistent contact point and a slightly different geometry than a curved shoe, which a lot of folks prefer for repeatable, straight-back pressure. It also carries Timney's own trigger-blocking safety, so the bolt stays locked up and the trigger won't move while you're on safe.
Timney has been building Remington replacement triggers longer than most of us have been shooting, and their 700 units have a reputation for tighter groups and a safer, more consistent break than the factory unit. This straight-shoe version fits the Remington 700 short and long action, ADL and BDL, along with the 40X.
Installation is genuinely a home-shop job. Pull the barreled action, tap out a couple of trigger pins, swap in the Timney, and reinstall. No drilling or tapping required. One heads-up from the field: Timney units run a touch wider than the factory trigger, so you may need to open up the trigger-guard slot slightly, and this one does not fit the Magpul Hunter stock. Watch that bolt-release spring when you pull the pin so it doesn't launch across the bench.
