The Timney 667S takes one of the biggest weak points on a factory AR-15, the trigger, and replaces it with a self-contained module that breaks clean at a hand-set 3 pounds. Instead of the mushy take-up and grit you feel in a standard mil-spec fire control group, you get a single-stage pull with essentially no creep and a break that lands in the same spot every time. Timney describes the feel as closer to a good bolt-action rifle than a combat trigger, and that consistency is exactly what helps you call your shots and tighten groups.
This is a one-piece drop-in unit, not a bag of springs and pins to fumble with. All the internals live captive inside a lightweight aluminum alloy housing, so dirt and debris stay out and nothing walks loose. The hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel for impact resistance, while the other engagement parts are cut from A2 tool steel and heat treated to Rc 56-60 for a long service life. Every trigger is individually tested and calibrated by hand before it leaves the shop, and Timney has been building triggers in the USA since 1946.
The 667S is set up for small-pin AR-15 lowers, the .154 inch pin size that covers the vast majority of mil-spec rifles out there. It reuses your rifle's original hammer and trigger pins, and the design fights pin rotation and walkout, so you are not chasing loose pins down the road. Most folks have it dropped in within a few minutes with basic tools. The one spot to slow down on is seating the set screws, since the trigger spring tails sit near the mounting holes and need to be nudged aside, but the included instruction sheet with photos walks you through it.
The curved solid shoe gives you that familiar, natural finger placement a lot of shooters grew up on, making it a great match for target work, competition, or just a range gun you want to enjoy pulling the trigger on. If you want a straight shoe instead, Timney offers that as the 667S-ST.

No, the 667S is non-adjustable and comes factory-set at 3 pounds. Timney keeps it non-adjustable on purpose to cut down on parts that could work loose or fail, so you get a consistent break out of the box. If you want a different weight, Timney offers 4 lb and 4.5 lb versions of the same trigger.
The only real difference is the shape of the trigger shoe. The 667S has a traditional curved shoe that a lot of shooters find natural, while the 667S-ST has a flat, straight shoe some prefer for competition. Internally they are the same 3 lb single-stage design.
