The 24 inch cold hammer forged barrel wears a semi-heavy contour that resists heat buildup during longer strings of fire, and the 1:7.5 twist rate stabilizes the heavy, high BC bullets that make this cartridge shine at distance. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a protector cap installed, so adding a brake or suppressor is a five minute job instead of a trip to the gunsmith. Feeding comes from a detachable 10-round steel magazine, which gives you real capacity for match stages or extended range sessions, and the enlarged ejection port makes it easy to drop single rounds straight into the chamber when you want to.
The single-stage trigger is adjustable and breaks clean right from the factory, which is a big part of why Tikkas group the way they do. The two-lug bolt runs on a slick 75 degree lift that keeps your hand clear of the scope and makes fast follow-up shots feel effortless. The 6mm Creedmoor is essentially the 6.5's faster, softer-shooting little brother. It pushes high BC bullets at higher velocity with noticeably less recoil, which is why it has become a staple in PRS and long range competition where spotting your own impacts matters. It also doubles nicely as a varmint and deer-class cartridge, though barrel life runs shorter than the 6.5.
It does. The CTR ships with a Picatinny rail attached to the receiver with extra screw placements for a rock solid mount, so you can bolt on your rings and optic right away. The adjustable cheekpiece on the stock also helps you get proper eye alignment behind larger scopes.
