Description

Few firearms turn heads at the range like a Thompson. The Auto-Ordnance 1927A-1 Deluxe brings the classic Chicago Typewriter silhouette into a semi-automatic carbine chambered in .45 ACP, built with a blued steel receiver and genuine polished American walnut furniture. This T1B-14 version is the newer configuration where the famous Cutts compensator is permanently attached to the finned barrel, bringing the total barrel length to 16.5 inches and trimming things down compared to the older 18 inch pinned-comp models. The result is the same unmistakable look in a slightly handier package.

The Tommy Gun Look, Done Right

Auto-Ordnance did not cut corners on the details. You get the vertical walnut foregrip, the detachable walnut buttstock, the finned barrel, and a blade front sight paired with an open adjustable rear. The blued steel receiver gives it real heft, right around 13 pounds, and that weight works in your favor. Combined with the soft-recoiling .45 ACP cartridge, this carbine is a genuinely pleasant, flat-shooting rifle that just about anyone can run comfortably all afternoon.

Feeding the 1927A-1 Deluxe

Out of the box you get a 20-round stick magazine, and unlike some other Thompson variants, the Deluxe receiver accepts both stick and drum magazines. That means the 50-round drum is on the table if you want to complete the full 1920s picture. It fires from a closed bolt as a semi-auto, one trigger pull per shot, and it runs best with quality brass-cased .45 ACP ammunition.

Why the Thompson 1927A-1 Still Earns Its Spot

Some rifles are tools, and some are pieces of American history you can shoot. This one is both. Whether you are a collector, a fan of the World War II era, or you just want the rifle everyone at the range asks about, the 1927A-1 Deluxe delivers craftsmanship and character that modern polymer rifles simply cannot match. Made in the USA by Auto-Ordnance, part of the Kahr Firearms Group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Thompson 1927A-1 Deluxe accept drum magazines?

Yes. The 1927A-1 Deluxe receiver is cut to run both stick and drum magazines, so you can add a 50-round drum for the full classic Tommy Gun setup. It ships from the factory with a single 20-round stick magazine.

Is the 1927A-1 Deluxe full auto like the original Thompson?

No, this is a semi-automatic reproduction that fires one round per trigger pull from a closed bolt. It keeps the original's look, walnut furniture, and .45 ACP chambering, but it operates like any other modern semi-auto carbine.

What is different about the T1B14 compared to older 18 inch Thompson models?

On the T1B14, the Cutts compensator is permanently attached to the barrel, making the total barrel length 16.5 inches. Older T1B models use a 16.5 inch finned barrel with a pinned compensator that stretches the total to 18 inches. This version gives you the same iconic profile in a shorter, slightly handier package.

What ammo runs best in the Thompson 1927A-1?

Stick with quality brass-cased .45 ACP, which is what Auto-Ordnance recommends for their Thompson long guns. Standard pressure 230 grain ball ammo is the classic pairing and cycles reliably. The rifle's 13 pound heft and the compensator keep felt recoil very mild.
