The TekMat Ultra 15×44 fixes all of that. At a full 44 inches long, it stretches out enough to lay your entire rifle down disassembled with plenty of open room for punches, pin sets, and every takedown pin you do not want to lose.
The surface is a soft thermoplastic fiber that will not scratch bluing, anodizing, or Cerakote, and it shrugs off oil and solvent so spills wipe up instead of soaking through to your bench. Underneath is a thick quarter-inch of padding over a vulcanized rubber backing that grips the table and stays put while you are wrenching on a barrel nut or pushing out a stubborn pivot pin. A sewn edge runs the whole perimeter, so it lays flat right out of the tube and the border will not fray or curl over time.
TekMat built the original printed cleaning mat, and this Ultra line steps things up with more room, thicker padding, and that finished stitched edge. The quarter-inch cushion is genuinely nice when you are seating small parts or drop a bolt carrier group, and the extra length is the real selling point for a rifle this size.
Printed right onto the surface is a large, clean exploded view of the AR-15 with parts labeled. It is dye-sublimated in, so it will not scratch off, fade, or wash away. Newer builders lean on it as a reference for teardown and reassembly, and even folks who have done it a hundred times find it handy for identifying springs and detents at a glance. The graphics are big and crisp, which beats squinting at a tiny black-and-white manual under bench lighting.
