T.O.R.O. stands for Taurus Optic Ready Option, and here it means the topstrap is milled at the factory to accept an included mounting plate cut for the Holosun K footprint. Bolt on something like a Holosun EPS Carry or a similar micro dot and you have a five-shot .357 Magnum that lets you zero to your exact carry load, something fixed-sight snubbies never offered. Prefer irons? The fixed rear notch and removable serrated front blade work just fine right out of the box.
This model shares its DNA with the popular 605 Defender, which is a good place to start. The frame, barrel, and cylinder are machined from stainless steel and wear a matte black finish, so it shrugs off holster wear and sweat without complaint. The 3-inch barrel is the sweet spot for a carry revolver, squeezing noticeably more velocity out of .357 Magnum than a 2-inch snub while staying easy to conceal. A full-length underlug shrouds the extended ejector rod, which kicks spent cases clear in a hurry when it is time to reload.
The double action, single action trigger gives you options, and the smooth target-style trigger face helps you run it fast without chewing up your finger. Compact rubber grips with finger grooves and side texturing soak up magnum recoil better than you would expect from a 23.5-ounce gun, and when full-power loads get tiresome, .38 Special +P makes range days a lot more pleasant. A transfer bar safety means the hammer cannot reach the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled all the way through.

The included mounting plate is cut for the Holosun K footprint, which covers popular micro dots like the Holosun 407K, 507K, and EPS Carry, plus other optics built on that same pattern. The topstrap is milled at the factory, so installation is just a matter of attaching the plate and optic. No red dot is included, so plan on picking one up separately.
Yes. Like any .357 Magnum revolver, it happily runs .38 Special and .38 Special +P. A lot of owners carry magnum loads and practice with .38s to keep recoil and ammo costs down, which makes range sessions with this 23.5-ounce gun a lot more enjoyable.
That is exactly what it was built for. The all-steel build adds a bit of weight compared to alloy guns, but that heft helps tame magnum recoil.
It does. You get a fixed square-notch rear sight and a removable serrated front blade, so it works fine as a traditional iron-sighted revolver right out of the box. The removable front sight also gives you the option to swap it out later if you install a taller optic setup.
