The long taper is what sets it apart from a standard round expander ball. It slides into the case mouth easily and pushes any neck wall irregularities toward the outside, which helps keep runout down and gives you a more uniform inside diameter. Handloaders who don't neck turn their brass tend to like having an expander in the mix, since it evens out the inside of the neck so the bullet isn't doing that work on the way in. It's also a favorite for opening up parent brass when forming custom cases up to a larger caliber.

It expands the inside of a bottleneck case neck to the proper diameter as the case is pulled out of the die. The long, gradual taper eases into the brass to reduce drag and keep neck runout low. The result is a more uniform inside diameter and more consistent neck tension on your seated bullets.
It fits Redding sizing dies, including Full Length, Neck, and Type S Bushing designs. The decap rod is not included, so you'll install this button onto the existing rod in your Redding die. It won't work in press or die setups outside the Redding sizing die family.
