If you've ever pulled your AR-15 off the bench and noticed a trigger or hammer pin creeping sideways, you already know why anti walk pins exist. Standard mil-spec pins rely on a tiny hammer spring leg or J-spring to hold them in place, and over time and rounds downrange that retention can loosen up. Tapco's Anti Walk Pins replace those factory pins with a screw-secured stainless steel setup that pins your fire control group in place and keeps it there.
These pins run a .154 inch diameter, which is the standard small-pin size found on the vast majority of AR-15 lowers. They lock the trigger and hammer inside the receiver so the fire control group stays aligned shot after shot. Beyond just stopping the walk, keeping those pins from rotating and drifting helps protect your receiver's pin holes from getting elongated or egged out, which is the kind of wear that turns a good lower into a sloppy one.
Installation is a bench job most folks can knock out in a few minutes. You'll want a bench block and a punch to tap the old pins out, then drop the Tapco pins in and snug down the retaining screws with the included Allen wrenches. A dab of thread locker on the screws is a smart move so they stay put under vibration. Once seated, do a quick function check on safe and fire before you head back to the range.

Confirm your lower takes standard .154 small pins before ordering, since some older large-pin Colt receivers use a different diameter.
They're standard .154 inch diameter pins, which is the size used on the vast majority of modern AR-15 lowers. If you're unsure what your rifle takes, push an existing pin partway out and measure it. Some older large-pin Colt receivers use a wider .172 diameter and won't work with this kit.
No permanent modifications are needed. You simply punch out your factory trigger and hammer pins and drop these in, then secure the retaining screws with the included Allen wrenches. It's a straightforward swap on any standard small-pin lower.
Anti walk pins are a common pairing with drop-in and match triggers, since those setups can be more prone to pin walkout. Just make sure your trigger is designed for .154 small pins rather than oversized .156 or large-pin variants. Check your trigger's documentation if you're not certain.
A small amount of thread locker on the set screws is the go-to move to keep everything tight under recoil and vibration. Snug the screws with the included Allen wrenches without over-torquing them. It's also worth a quick periodic check as part of your normal cleaning routine.
