Designed by Larry Vickers and built by TangoDown, this grip plug does a lot more than fill the hole in the bottom of your Glock frame. It carries a stainless steel takedown tool right inside the grip, so you always have what you need to field strip your pistol without digging through your range bag for a punch. Pull the mag, lock the slide back, and the tool comes right out. For anyone who swaps parts or cleans regularly, having that tool ride along on the gun is a genuinely handy touch.
The takedown tool is made from 300-series stainless steel that resists corrosion and shrugs off years of use. It's overmolded into a glass-filled nylon handle, so the whole plug is tough and built to last. Because the exterior is fully radiused and smooth, the plug acts as a ramp and a positive index point when you seat a fresh magazine, which makes speed reloads a little quicker and cleaner. Small detail, real payoff when you're moving fast.
One of the best reasons to run this plug is protection. It seals off the open cavity at the bottom of the frame, keeping dirt, sand, and mud from working their way up into the trigger control components where they can cause problems. On a stock Glock that space sits wide open, so plugging it is cheap insurance against a gun choking up in nasty conditions.
This is the Gen 3 model and fits the Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 31, 32, 34, and 35. It will not fit Gen 4 pistols, which use the GGT-02 instead. Owners of polymer 80 style frames have had good luck with fitment as well. The matte black finish blends nicely with factory magazine floor plates, so once it's in it looks like it came from the factory. Installation takes only a few seconds and no gunsmithing.
The GGT-01 is made for Gen 3 Glock pistols and fits the 17, 19, 22, 23, 31, 32, 34, and 35. It will not fit Gen 4 models, which need the GGT-02 version instead. A lot of polymer 80 style frame builders have also reported clean fitment with this plug.
It's simple. Remove the magazine, lock the slide to the rear, and pull the stainless tool free from the grip cavity. Once you're done field stripping and cleaning, it slides right back in for storage.
