The TacFire AR-15 Complete Upper in 5.56 NATO is built and assembled at the factory, so all you do is slide it onto a compatible mil-spec lower, pin it in place, and you've got a working top end. It ships with a bolt carrier group included, which takes the guesswork out of the build and gets you closer to the range without hunting down extra parts. The 11.5" barrel sits in that sweet spot for compact AR pistol and short-barrel builds, keeping things nimble in tight spaces while still giving 5.56 room to do its thing.
The barrel is cut from 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel and treated with a black nitride finish, which is the kind of coating that shrugs off corrosion and holds up to heat over a long day of shooting. TacFire runs their 5.56 barrels with a 1:7 twist, so it handles the heavier 62 to 77 grain loads most folks feed a modern 5.56 rifle. Up front you get an A2-style muzzle device and an M-LOK free-float handguard that gives you plenty of real estate for a light, sling mount, hand stop, or whatever your setup calls for.
The receiver is forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a black anodized finish, matching the mil-spec dimensions that make the AR-15 platform so easy to work on. It comes optic ready with a flat-top Picatinny rail, so you can mount a red dot, LPVO, or iron sights based on how you shoot. Yes, the bolt carrier group is included in the box. That means once you mount the upper to your lower, you're only missing a charging handle to have a complete, functioning top end. Double-check whether you need to add a charging handle before your first range trip.
It's built to standard mil-spec AR-15 dimensions, so it drops onto any compatible mil-spec lower receiver. Slide it on, line up the takedown and pivot pins, and pin it in place. If your lower follows the usual AR-15 spec, you're good to go.
TacFire runs a 1:7 twist on this barrel, which stabilizes heavier projectiles well. That makes it happy with 62 to 77 grain 5.56 and .223 loads, and it'll still shoot lighter 55 grain rounds just fine for general plinking. The 1:7 gives you the most flexibility across common ammo weights.
The upper ships optic ready with a flat-top Picatinny rail and no sights installed. That leaves you free to mount a red dot, LPVO, or a set of iron sights depending on how you want to run it. It's a clean slate for whatever aiming setup fits your build.
