Clever has been building shotshells in Italy for around 70 years, and the T2 Competition line is the load they hang their hat on. This 12 gauge round sends 1 ounce of #8 lead shot downrange at 1250 fps, which puts it right in the sweet spot for close-to-mid range clay work where you want a dense pattern and a quick break. The 2 3/4 inch hull feeds and cycles cleanly, so you can run box after box without babysitting your gun.
The #8 shot size is the go-to pellet for skeet and a lot of sporting clays stations, since the smaller pellets mean more of them in the payload for a fuller, more forgiving pattern. Clever uses tempered lead and a refined manufacturing process that keeps patterns consistent even at higher velocities, which is exactly what you want when a bird is crossing hard and you need every pellet to count. That 1250 fps clip gives you a little extra authority on faster presentations without turning your shoulder to jelly over a long day.
This load is built for the full spread of clay disciplines. It's at home on American trap, skeet, double trap, and sporting clays, and it makes a great high-volume practice round when you just want to burn through targets and sharpen your swing. The 1 ounce payload is a familiar, balanced weight that most 12 gauge over-unders, pumps, and semi-autos digest happily.
If you're after a dependable, affordable competition shell from a maker that knows clay targets inside and out, the T2 Competition in #8 is an easy call. Keep a few boxes in the bag and you'll always have the right load for the station.
The #8 shot size shines on skeet and sporting clays, and it works great for American trap and double trap too. The smaller pellets pack more count into the payload for a fuller, more forgiving pattern on closer and crossing targets. It's a solid all-around clay load.
Yes. The 1 ounce payload at 1250 fps generates plenty of gas and energy to run most 12 gauge semi-autos reliably, and they feed just as smoothly through pumps and over-unders. It's a standard 2 3/4 inch competition load that plays nice with the vast majority of 12 gauge guns.
Both run 1 ounce of lead at 1250 fps in a 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch hull. The #8 uses smaller pellets, giving you a denser pattern that favors skeet and closer sporting clays, while #7.5 carries a bit more reach and energy for longer trap presentations. Many shooters keep both on hand depending on the station.
Clever is a long-established Italian shotshell maker with a strong reputation on trap ranges worldwide. The T2 Competition line uses tempered lead shot and a refined production process to keep patterns consistent even at higher velocities. For the price, it's a well-regarded option among clay target shooters.
