Clever has been loading shells in Verona, Italy for generations, and the Mirage Super Target T1 is the line that put them on clay fields around the world. This 12 gauge load packs 1-1/8 ounces of #8.5 lead shot into a 2-3/4" hull, moving at 1145 fps with a 2.75 dram equivalent. The smaller #8.5 pellet gives you more shot in the pattern than a #8 or #7.5, which translates to denser coverage and more forgiveness on close-to-mid range targets. It's a load built for breaking clays, plain and simple.
Clever's name carries real weight in the competitive world, with a trophy case that includes multiple Olympic gold medals in trap across several different shooters. The T1 is their high-volume workhorse, the shell people reach for when they're burning through flats at the club every weekend. Folks who shoot it regularly tend to point to the same things: clean-burning powder that keeps autoloader actions tidy, consistent crimps with no distorted shells, and reliable ignition round after round.
The 1-1/8 oz charge paired with #8.5 shot leans toward pattern density, so you get a tight, even spread that's well suited to skeet, trap singles and doubles, and sporting clays out to normal breaking distances. At 1145 fps it stays smooth on the shoulder, which matters when you're calling for a hundred or more targets in a session. The hard shot holds its shape through the choke and patterns true downrange.
These shells are a standard 2-3/4" length and run well in over/unders, autoloaders, and pumps alike. From field-grade pumps to competition O/Us, the Mirage Super Target T1 feeds and fires without fuss, which is exactly what you want from a dedicated clay load you plan to shoot a lot of.
It's a dedicated clay target load built for trap, skeet, and sporting clays. The #8.5 shot gives you a dense pattern that's forgiving on close-to-mid range targets, and the moderate 1145 fps velocity keeps recoil manageable over a long day. It's a range and competition shell, not a hunting or defensive round.
Yes. These are standard 2-3/4" 12 gauge shells and run in pumps, over/unders, and autoloaders chambered for that length. Shooters frequently note how clean the powder burns, which is a nice bonus if you're running a gas-operated semi-auto.
The #8.5 pellet is slightly smaller, so you fit more pellets into the same 1-1/8 oz payload. That means a denser pattern with more coverage, which helps on closer targets like you'll see in skeet and many sporting clays stations. The tradeoff is a bit less energy per pellet at longer distances.
Clever is an Italian maker with a serious pedigree in competitive shooting, including multiple Olympic gold medals in trap. The Mirage Super Target T1 is their high-volume line, known for consistent crimps, reliable ignition, and clean burning. Plenty of club and competition shooters run it regularly and have no complaints about how it breaks targets.
