The Sylvan Arms SA5 Pro is a Gen 5 folding stock adapter that lets your AR pivot at the rear of the receiver so the whole thing collapses into a shorter, easier-to-stash package. This is the left-fold version, meaning the stock swings off to the side away from the ejection port when the rifle is oriented downrange. That keeps the folded stock clear of the brass path and tucks it flat against the receiver for storage in a bag, a safe, or a vehicle. It's a clean way to shrink your overall length without permanently changing the build.
Sylvan built this one closer to the lower than earlier designs, which trims down length and closes up gaps for a tighter, more solid feel when locked. The body is CNC-machined right here in the USA from 4140 steel and tips the scale at just 9.4 ounces, so you get the strength of steel without a big weight penalty. Sylvan rates it at 250% stronger than their fourth-gen adapter, and it's user-serviceable if you ever need to get inside it.
The SA5 Pro uses a standard 1-3/16" x 16 thread and drops onto standard AR-15 bolt carrier groups without any extra parts. It plays nice with .223/5.56, .308, and 300 Blackout builds, and it's Mil-Spec AR-15 and most AR-10 compatible. For 9mm setups, bolt carriers with the standard 5/8" ID (.625) can run the included bolt extension once you pull the pin and weight from the rear of the BCG. Worth noting: it does not work with Tippmann 22 or LWRC pistols.
Install is about as painless as it gets. The kit ships with a wrench, and most folks have it screwed on and folding in under five minutes. Screw it on, fold it, and carry. Keep in mind the buffer retaining pin and spring need to move from your lower into the backside of the folder during install, so give the directions a quick read before you start.
