The result was the massive X-Frame, and the Model 500 has been the king of the hill ever since. This version comes out of the Performance Center, which means it gets the hand-fitting and fine tuning treatment that S&W's custom shop is known for. The chrome hammer and chrome trigger with an overtravel stop give it a crisp, clean feel that a stock big-bore wheelgun just can't match.
The 7.5" stainless barrel splits the difference between a longer sight radius and a package you can carry into the field without regretting it. Up front there's a muzzle brake that takes real bite out of recoil, and at 69.9 ounces the sheer heft of the gun soaks up a lot of the rest.
