The M&P9 M2.0 Metal Compact is Smith and Wesson's answer for folks who wanted more than what a polymer frame could offer, without going full steel and paying for it in carry weight. The frame is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Tungsten Gray Cerakote, giving it that confident, rigid feel that's hard to describe until you pick one up. The slide is stainless steel with the same Tungsten Gray treatment and a black Armornite finish on the 4-inch barrel and controls. It's a sharp-looking pistol that happens to shoot just as well as it looks.
Ergonomics are a real strong suit here. The 18-degree grip angle points naturally, and the gun ships with four interchangeable palmswell inserts in S, M, ML, and L sizes so you can dial in the grip fit for your hand rather than just making do. The densely stippled texture on the frontstrap and palmswells keeps things locked in even when your hands are sweaty, which matters more than people give it credit for. The M2.0 flat-face trigger is a crisp improvement over older M&P triggers, with a clean break and a light, consistent pull that rewards good technique.
The optic-ready slide runs the C.O.R.E. system with adapter plates in the box, so mounting a micro red dot is a straightforward process without sending it off for milling.
