The M&P FPC was Smith & Wesson's first folding pistol caliber carbine, and the design is genuinely clever. The 16.25 inch barreled 9mm folds sideways to a hair over 16 inches, short enough to slide behind a truck seat or tuck into the included carry bag with room to spare. Because it hinges horizontally instead of over the top, the Crimson Trace red/green dot that comes mounted on this package stays put and holds zero, folded or not. Pop the latch, swing it open until it locks, and you're ready to go.
The FPC feeds from M&P full-size and compact double-stack 9mm magazines, so anyone already running an M&P pistol has a matched pair with shared mags right away. Smith & Wesson includes three in the box, one 17-rounder and two 23-round extended mags, and the stock has built-in storage slots with a quick-release tab that keeps both spares onboard. Grab the carbine and you're carrying 63 rounds in one package. The grip is straight off the M&P pistol line, complete with interchangeable palmswell inserts to dial in the fit.
Under the hood it's a straight blowback design with an integrated recoil buffer, which keeps maintenance simple and takes the edge off the already mild 9mm recoil. The flat-face trigger breaks clean, the crossbolt safety and reversible magazine catch keep things familiar, and the 4140 chrome moly vanadium barrel with a 1:10 twist is threaded 1/2×28 with a protector installed, so adding a muzzle device down the road is painless. A 15 inch M-LOK handguard with a full-length Picatinny top rail gives you plenty of real estate for lights and accessories.

The 16.25 inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard pattern for most 9mm muzzle devices, and it comes with a thread protector installed. Just spin off the protector and thread on your device of choice.
