The 5.7 cartridge was practically made for a carbine like this. Out of the 16.25 inch barrel you get more velocity than any pistol can squeeze out of it, with recoil so light it almost feels like a rimfire. The FPC's signature side-folding design takes the carbine from about 30.4 inches down to roughly 16.4 inches, and because it folds horizontally, your optic stays put and stays zeroed. The folding mechanism doubles as a locking latch so it rides secure in a bag or behind a seat. The buttstock has built-in storage for two spare magazines, which means you can carry 66 rounds on the gun itself without any extra pouches.
If you already own an M&P 5.7 pistol, this carbine will feel like home. It uses the same grip, a crisp flat-face trigger, and it feeds from the same magazines, so your pistol mags work here and vice versa. The blowback action gets help from an integrated recoil buffer system that smooths out the impulse, and 5.7×28 was mild to begin with. QD sling sockets on the stock and handguard make it easy to set up for carry.
A full-length Picatinny top rail handles red dots, LPVOs, or whatever glass you prefer, while M-LOK slots on the handguard take care of lights and hand stops. The muzzle comes threaded 1/2×28 with a thread protector installed, so adding a suppressor or muzzle device is painless.
