The slide is cut for the modified RMSc footprint, which covers a lot of popular micro dots. Optics like the Holosun 407K, 507K, and EPS Carry, along with the Shield RMSc itself, mount directly to the slide without an adapter plate. Just remove the cover plate and bolt your dot on.
This version, MPN 13732, includes both an ambidextrous thumb safety and a grip safety. The grip safety disengages naturally when you get a firing grip, so it doesn't slow you down. If you prefer running without a thumb safety, S&W also makes a no-thumb-safety version, but this one gives you both layers.
They're similar in size, but they serve different needs. The Shield Plus is striker-fired with a flat-face trigger, while the Equalizer runs an internal hammer with a lighter slide spring, a grip safety, and a crisp single-action trigger.
