When US Special Operations Command ran the most demanding suppressor trials the military has ever put together, this is the can that came out on top. The SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 was selected for the M4 and Mk18, and this second generation version improves on the original with an upgraded front plate and refined baffle design. It is built for 5.56mm and .223 rifles with barrels of 10 inches or longer, which makes it right at home on everything from an SBR to a 16 inch carbine.
The RC2 is precision machined from high-temperature Inconel alloy and stainless steel, then CNC laser welded into a package that shrugs off hard use and full-auto heat. At 6.4 inches long with a 1.5 inch diameter and roughly 17 ounces, it keeps the added length to about 3.8 inches over the muzzle device. Where SureFire really separates itself is gas management. The internal venting cuts back pressure, which means less blowback in your face, a lower suppressed cyclic rate, and a rifle that runs cooler and cleaner during long range sessions. If you have ever eaten a face full of gas off a short barrel, you will appreciate the difference.
The Fast-Attach system locks onto SureFire muzzle devices, including their flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and WARCOMP line, with no tools needed. Snap it on, run it, pull it off, and it comes back to the same zero. Every RC2 is test fired at the factory to verify sub-MOA point of impact shift and group size, so you are not guessing about what the can does to your dope.
Flash suppression is where this suppressor shines, cutting visible flash up to 99.3 percent over a bare muzzle and virtually eliminating first-round flash. That matters a lot for night vision work and low light shooting. Add in the Dark Earth Cerakote finish and American manufacturing, and you have a proven, hard-use 5.56 can that has been vetted at the highest level.
No, the suppressor ships on its own and the mounting adapter is sold separately. You will need a SureFire Fast-Attach compatible muzzle device such as one of their flash hiders, muzzle brakes, or WARCOMP models. If you run SureFire devices on multiple rifles, one can moves easily between all of them.
Testing with M855 ammo shows around 137 dB on a 10.3 inch barrel and 136 dB on a 14.5 inch barrel. SureFire does not chase the absolute quietest numbers on the market. Instead, the RC2 prioritizes low back pressure, reduced gas blowback, and outstanding flash suppression, which is why it is a favorite for hard use and night vision work.
Every RC2 is test fired at the factory to verify sub-MOA point of impact shift and group size. The Fast-Attach system indexes the same way every time you mount it, so your zero stays consistent when you take the can on and off. Just confirm your zero with the suppressor mounted and you are set.
