The trigger on a stock Smith & Wesson M&P is fine for what it is, but anyone who's spent real time behind one knows it can feel gritty and vague, especially through the take-up. Apex's Ultimate Striker Block Kit tackles that specific problem with a small part that punches well above its weight. The striker safety plunger has been reshaped with improved geometry so the trigger bar rides across it with a lot less friction, which cleans up that scratchy feel right at the front of the pull.
The redesigned plunger dimensions give you a smoother take-up before the trigger bar engages the sear cam, and it minimizes drag as the bar transitions back to the reset point. That last part is the sleeper feature here. You end up with a more tactile, detectable reset, meaning you can feel exactly where the trigger resets without staring at your gun. For anyone running drills or shooting fast, knowing where reset lives makes follow-up shots quicker and more consistent. The kit also comes with a reduced power plunger spring that trims drag and lift resistance while keeping the pistol's safety values right where they should be.
This is designed to work hand in hand with a quality machined sear, and it shows up in nearly all of Apex's M&P and Shield kits for good reason. On its own it does a great job cleaning up trigger feel, and folks who've installed one alongside an Apex sear and spring kit report a genuinely lighter, smoother pull. If you're chasing a full trigger job, this is one of the building blocks that gets you there.
The kit works with current production M&P series pistols in 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, plus the M&P M2.0 and the M&P Shield in 9mm and .40. The one exception is the M&P Shield .45, which doesn't use this part. Installation is a drop-in job, though if you're not comfortable getting into the fire control group, a gunsmith can have it done quickly.
