The stock ejection port cover on most AR-10 builds feels like an afterthought. Thin sheet metal, a fussy roll pin, and a spring that fights you the whole way. The Strike Industries Ultimate Dust Cover throws all of that out and replaces it with a molded polymer unit that goes on and comes off without the usual wrestling match. It's a small part, but it's one of those upgrades you notice every time you open the action.
This cover is built from high-density polymer, so it won't corrode, rust, fade, or take a permanent bend the way a tin cover eventually will. Inside there's a True Seal lip that closes down tighter against the port than a standard cover, which means better protection from dust, grit, and weather when the action is shut. It's light too, tipping the scales right around half an ounce, so you're not adding any real weight to the rifle.
One of the smartest touches here is the built-in adjustable detent set screw. Over time receivers wear, and a factory cover can start popping open weak or refusing to seat right. With this one you grab a small flathead, depress the ball detent, and dial the opening power up or down to your liking. If you're chasing a crisp snap-open every time, this is how you get there. Strike recommends a dab of blue thread locker on the detent thread once you've set it.
Here's the real-world part. There's no true mil-spec for AR-10 uppers, so fitment varies by receiver brand. Plenty of folks report it dropping right onto Aero Precision M5, DPMS, SIG 716, and similar uppers with no fuss, and a tight fit often laps itself smooth after some hand cycling. On some other receivers you may need a little light sanding to get it seated just right. It's a five-minute job with a pocket knife or a file, and once it's on, you're set.
Because there's no universal mil-spec standard for AR-10 uppers, fitment depends on your receiver. It's been confirmed to fit uppers like Aero Precision M5, DPMS, SIG 716, YHM, and S&W, often with no modification.
