Description

The Strike Industries Mass Driver Comp takes a fresh approach to taming muzzle rise on the Gen 3 Glock 17. Instead of threading a can onto the end of your barrel, this compensator mounts to a replacement guide rod assembly that sits independent of the barrel and slide. As the slide travels rearward under recoil, the comp drives forward, working like a counterbalance to soak up some of that mechanical kick. The name is a nod to theoretical mass driver engines used in space travel, where ejecting mass creates an equal and opposite reaction, and that same physics is what keeps your sights flatter shot to shot.

What Sets the Mass Driver Comp Apart

Most barrel-mounted comps add weight to the reciprocating mass of the pistol, which can throw off cycling and reliability. By separating the compensator from the operating parts after ignition, this design keeps close to stock cyclic speeds while trimming reciprocating mass. That means you get real recoil reduction without gumming up how your Glock runs. The comp body carries a widened bore to cut down on baffle strikes and keyholing, plus a 2.5mm relief cut at the top rear to reduce lipping and protect the face of your slide.

Fitment and Everyday Carry Notes

This is the Standard size built for the Gen 3 Glock 17 and G31 slides. It's CNC machined from steel with a black finish, and the profile is blended to match the width of your slide, so it feeds nicely into most open-bottom holsters that accommodate a comp. No threaded barrel is needed, though it will work with most popular aftermarket threaded barrels if you already run one. Strike recommends non-threaded barrels when possible for the best results.

Getting the Mass Driver Comp Installed

Installation swaps your factory recoil spring assembly for the included guide rod, springs, and hardware, then the comp attaches to the new guide rod. Blue threadlocker on the threads and a 25 in/lb torque on the guide rod nut keep things locked in. Stick with standard-pressure 9mm loads, since heavy +P and +P+ diets will wear the internal spring faster. Shooters who like a front-heavy Glock tend to notice a genuine drop in muzzle flip and quicker target transitions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Mass Driver Comp need a threaded barrel?

No. The Mass Driver Comp mounts to a replacement guide rod assembly rather than the barrel, so a threaded barrel is not required. It is compatible with most popular aftermarket threaded barrels if you already run one, though Strike recommends using a non-threaded barrel when possible for best results.

How does the Mass Driver Comp reduce recoil differently than a normal compensator?

A traditional comp threads onto the barrel and adds to the reciprocating mass of the pistol. This one stays separate from the moving parts, so as the slide travels back the comp drives forward and acts as a counterbalance. That approach reduces felt recoil while keeping close to stock cyclic speeds.

Will the Mass Driver Comp fit in my holster?

The comp is blended to match the width of the slide with a no-snag profile, so it sits flush with OEM Glock slides. It works in most open-bottom or open-ended holsters designed to accommodate a compensator. A standard closed-end holster will not clear it.

Can I run +P ammo through the Mass Driver Comp?

It is designed around standard-pressure 9mm loads. Running +P and +P+ ammunition will accelerate wear on the internal spring and can lead to failure over time. Stick with standard-pressure range and defensive loads to keep it running reliably.
