Small parts can make a surprisingly big difference in how a rifle feels and functions, and the Strike Industries Cobra trigger guard is a good example. Machined from aircraft grade billet aluminum and finished in a red anodized coating, it replaces the stamped or polymer guard that came on your lower with something that looks sharp and works harder. The sculpted, skeletonized profile is glove friendly and adds a bit of aggressive personality to any AR-platform build.
Two features set this guard apart. The hood gives your trigger finger a defined index point and a resting spot to keep it off the trigger and ready, which cuts down on the fatigue of hovering with nowhere to rest. Down below, the retained Fang feature acts as a funnel for the magazine, helping guide mags into the well for faster, more consistent reloads. Both are the kind of touches you stop thinking about until you notice how much smoother things run.
One of the nicest things about this guard is that it bolts on. Instead of fighting a roll pin with a punch and a hammer, you secure it with the included M3 hex screws that come with Loctite Threadlocker already applied. Keep the screws at or under 10 in/lbs of torque and you're set. It's designed to drop into mil-spec forged lowers, though as with a lot of billet guards, some lowers run a touch tight and may need light fitting to seat perfectly. Anderson mil-spec lowers in particular can require modification.
At right around half an ounce with hardware, the Cobra keeps things light while still feeling solid and machined. Since it's precision cut from billet, part-to-part consistency is good. The red anodizing pairs nicely with matching accents on a build, and Strike does note that anodized color lines can vary slightly batch to batch. If you've been meaning to ditch the roll pin and add some color and function at the same time, this is an easy upgrade.
No, and that's one of its best selling points. The Cobra secures with included M3 hex screws that already have blue threadlocker applied, so you skip the roll pin and punch entirely. Just keep the screws at or under 10 in/lbs of torque when you tighten them down.

The Fang is the small protrusion at the front of the guard that sits under the magazine well. It works as a funnel to help guide your magazine into place during reloads, making mag changes a bit faster and more consistent. It carries over from Strike's popular polymer trigger guard.
Not at all. Even though it's machined from solid billet aluminum, it weighs in at roughly half an ounce with the included hardware. You get the solid, upgraded feel of billet without adding meaningful weight to your build.
