The charging handle is one of those parts most folks never think twice about until they upgrade one and wonder why they waited so long. The Strike Industries T-Bone takes a fresh angle on a familiar part, pairing an ambidextrous, latchless design with a gas management feature that genuinely earns its keep, especially if you run a can or a gassy setup.
The headline feature here is the patented gas-busting system. You can configure the T-Bone to vent gas out the left side only, the right side only, or evenly through both handles. That flexibility matters most when shooting suppressed, where excess gas has a habit of blowing straight back toward your face. Being able to steer that blowback away from your eyes and nose makes for a much more pleasant range session, and the ability to tune it to your dominant side or shooting position is a nice touch you don't see on most standard handles.
The shaft is machined from 7000-series aluminum, which is prized for staying light while holding up to hard use. Instead of a traditional metal latch, the T-Bone uses latchless handles made from Strike's own PolyFlex polymer. This latchless approach means less wear and tear on your upper receiver over time compared to conventional latches digging into the aluminum. The handles are modular too, so you can swap them out for larger Porterhouse or smaller Tenderloin pieces down the road to dial in the grip and look you want.
This one drops into AR-15, M4, and M16 uppers chambered for .223/5.56. It is not made for AR-10 platforms, so keep that in mind if you're running a larger cartridge. The ambidextrous layout makes it a solid pick for lefties or anyone who likes working the charging handle with either hand. The FDE polymer handles give it a clean two-tone look against the black body that plays well with earth-tone builds.
It's built for AR-15, M4, and M16 upper receivers chambered in .223/5.56. It is not compatible with AR-10 or larger .308-based uppers. As with any latchless design, feel can vary slightly between receiver brands due to tolerances, so a short break-in period is normal on some builds.
