The Strike Industries Viper Enhanced Pistol Grip runs a 15 degree angle, which puts it on the more vertical end of the AR grip spectrum. That vertical geometry works great with a modern, squared-up shooting stance where you want your wrist relaxed and your trigger finger falling naturally into place. If you've been running an old A2 grip and your hand feels cramped after a few mags, this is the kind of swap that makes a real difference in how the rifle feels.
Strike gave this one an updated texture that grabs your palm and fingers without chewing them up. The body is streamlined and tapered right where the webbing of your hand sits, so you can shift your grip and reach the safety, mag release, or bolt catch without breaking your hold. There's still plenty of width through the palm to spread out the pressure, which is what keeps your hand from getting fatigued over a long session at the range or in a class.
Underneath the grip you'll find a sealed storage compartment that closes up with the included rubber endcap. It's a handy spot for a spare battery, a bore snake, or a small parts kit, and the cap keeps water and debris out. The beavertail up top rounds out the ergonomics and gives your hand a clean surface to ride against the back of the lower.
Made from durable black polymer, the Viper weighs in around 3.7 ounces and measures roughly 5.5 inches long. It bolts right onto AR-15 and AR-10 style receivers and ships with the screw and washer you need to get it mounted. Installation is a five minute job with a single hex key, so you can have it on the rifle and back at the bench in no time.
The 15 degree measurement is taken relative to a line perpendicular to the bore, which makes this the most vertical option in the Viper lineup. A more vertical grip keeps your wrist straighter and pairs well with a modern, aggressive stance. If you shoot squared up to the target and want your trigger finger to fall in naturally, the 15 degree is the one to grab.
It's built for standard AR-15 and AR-10 style lowers, so it works with the vast majority of mil-spec receivers on the market. It ships with the mounting screw and washer, and installation only takes a hex key. Just note that some lowers with oversized or beefy trigger guard areas can affect how snug the grip seats, so make sure everything is torqued down properly.
The bottom of the grip has a sealed compartment that closes with the included rubber endcap. It's the right size for a spare battery, a bore snake, a small cleaning kit, or a couple of loose parts. The endcap helps keep moisture and grit out of the compartment.
Strike updated the texture on this version for a more positive grip, and it does a good job of locking your hand in without shredding your palm. It gives you solid purchase even when conditions aren't ideal. Most folks find it a noticeable step up from a smooth factory A2 grip.
