Description
Anybody who has run an AR long enough knows the little latch on a standard charging handle is usually the first thing to give out. Strike Industries went a different route here and got rid of it altogether. The Latchless Charging Handle locks into your upper receiver with a hidden flat-spring mechanism instead of an external latch, which means one less moving part to wear down, bind up, or snag on your gear when things get busy.
How the Latchless Charging Handle Locks Up
Rather than a spring-loaded latch grabbing a 90-degree edge, this handle uses the natural radius of the charging handle channel inside the upper receiver. That radiused contact spreads friction over a wider area than a traditional steel ball bearing setup, so you get smoother cycling and less wear over thousands of rounds. The flat-spring bearing surface does the same job as a conventional latch without any of the exposed hardware sticking out to catch on a sling, plate carrier, or brush.
Forged 7075 and a Clean, Ambidextrous Profile
The body is machined from forged 7075 aluminum, so it is light at right around 0.9 ounces but still tough enough for regular training and range work. The design is fully ambidextrous, working the same whether you are pulling from the left or right side, and the sleek profile keeps everything low and out of the way. Side gas venting helps push blowback away from your face, which is a nice touch on gassy builds.
Room to Grow With ISO Tabs
If you run a large optic or find yourself charging with gloves on, the handle gives you a solid mounting point for Strike's optional ISO Tabs. Those add surface area and grip without changing how the handle seats. This model wears a red anodized finish and is built for standard mil-spec AR-15 uppers, so it drops right in as a straightforward upgrade for most builds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Latchless Charging Handle fit my AR-15?
It is built for standard mil-spec AR-15 upper receivers chambered in .223/5.56, so it drops into most common builds without modification. It is not intended for suppressed setups, full-auto, SBRs, or pistol-length barrels. If your upper is standard spec, you are good to go.
How does a latchless design lock into the receiver without a latch?
Instead of an external latch, it uses a hidden flat-spring mechanism that engages the natural radius of the upper receiver's charging handle channel. That flat spring has a larger bearing surface than a steel ball, so it spreads force and wear across a wider area. The result is reliable lockup with fewer parts that can break or snag.
Can I still get a good grip on it with gloves or a big optic mounted?
The bare handle keeps a low, snag-free profile, which some folks prefer on its own. If you want more real estate, it gives you a solid mounting point for Strike's optional ISO Tabs, which add surface area and grip. Those are sold separately and are worth grabbing if you run gloves or a large scope.
Is the Latchless Charging Handle actually more durable than a standard one?
The whole idea is longevity. By removing the external latch, which is typically the first part to wear out on a standard charging handle, and spreading the load across a flat spring, Strike designed this for improved service life over conventional handles. The forged 7075 aluminum body backs that up for regular training and range use.
