The Streamlight TLR-8 G Sub packs a serious amount of capability into a light that measures just 2.51 inches long and weighs under 3 ounces. It throws 500 lumens and 5,000 candela through a custom TIR optic, pushing a concentrated beam out to 141 meters with enough peripheral spill to keep you aware of what is happening around the edges. Add in the 510-530nm green laser and you have a light-and-laser combo that fits your Glock 43X or 48 without turning a slim carry gun into something clunky.
The green laser is the star here. Green shows up faster to the human eye than red, especially in daylight and dim indoor light, which makes picking up the dot and confirming your point of aim quicker under stress. You get three modes to work with: light only, light and laser together, and laser only. Light runtime lands at about 1.5 hours, and the laser-only mode stretches to roughly 11 hours on a single CR123A lithium battery, which comes in the box. Windage and elevation adjustment screws on the housing let you sight the laser to your irons or optic, and most folks run it either dead-on at a set distance or slightly parallel below the bore.
Activation runs through ambidextrous rear paddle switches that handle both momentary and constant on. Click for constant, press and hold for momentary. Streamlight includes interchangeable high and low paddles so you can tune the feel to your grip and shooting style. The rail clamp system is the part carry folks appreciate most: it snaps on and off the dedicated 43X/48 MOS and RAIL mount without tools and without ever putting your hand in front of the muzzle. A safe-off feature on the bezel keeps the light from getting bumped on in the holster and draining the battery.
This is a purpose-built unit for the Glock 43X and 48 platforms, so it drops right into place with no adapter hunting. Pair it with a holster cut for a light-equipped subcompact and you have a genuinely capable everyday carry or nightstand setup.
This particular model is built for the Glock 43X MOS, 48 MOS, 43X RAIL, and 48 RAIL frames. The dedicated clamp is keyed to those rails, so it locks in without needing an adapter. Streamlight offers separate TLR-8 Sub versions for the SIG P365, Springfield Hellcat, and select 1913 railed subcompacts if you are running a different gun.
There are windage and elevation adjustment screws on the housing that you turn with the included hex wrench. Most people either sight it dead-on at a set distance like 15 yards or run it parallel just below their bore line. Since the laser sits a couple inches under the centerline of the barrel, a slightly low hold keeps your hits close to the green dot at typical handgun distances.
The white LED runs about 1.5 hours in light-only or combined light-and-laser mode on a single CR123A lithium battery. If you switch to laser-only mode, you get roughly 11 hours out of the green laser. The battery comes included, and the safe-off feature on the bezel helps prevent accidental drain in the holster.
