The TLR-7 X USB is Streamlight's take on the compact pistol light that just about everyone already knows, updated with the one feature people kept asking for: rechargeability. It throws 500 lumens and 5,000 candela out to roughly 140 meters, which is plenty of reach and punch for home defense, duty carry, or clearing a dark garage. The real headline here is the multi-fuel design, meaning you can run the included SL-B9 USB-C rechargeable pack for everyday savings or drop in a common CR123A when you want a battery you can grab at any gas station.
A lot of rechargeable lights lock you into a proprietary battery, and if that battery ever dies on you, you're stuck. Streamlight sidestepped that by making the SL-B9 the same size as a CR123A, so you get the convenience of USB-C charging without giving up the option to run standard cells. Charging is simple: pop the SL-B9 out, plug the cord straight into the battery, and a green indicator lets you know when it's topped off. Run time lands around one hour on the rechargeable pack and about an hour and a half on a CR123A, both at the full 500 lumens.
The integrated rail-grip clamp attaches and detaches from the side, so your hands never cross the muzzle during install. It ships with a key kit that fits a wide range of railed handguns, and on something like a Glock 19 it sits nice and flush with the muzzle. The ambidextrous rear paddle switches give you momentary and constant-on, and since they're interchangeable you can program which paddle runs high versus low to suit lefties or righties. There's also a user-enabled strobe and a safe-off feature on the bezel that keeps it from lighting up in the holster.
Built from anodized machined aluminum with an impact-resistant Borofloat lens, it carries an IPX7 waterproof rating good to a meter for 30 minutes, and it's backed by Streamlight's limited lifetime warranty. In the Flat Dark Earth finish, it's a low-profile workhorse that earns its spot on a carry or nightstand gun.
It's a dual-fuel light, so it runs on either the included Streamlight SL-B9 USB-C rechargeable battery pack or a single CR123A lithium battery. The SL-B9 gives you about an hour of run time and the CR123A gets you around an hour and a half, both at 500 lumens. Since the SL-B9 is the same size as a CR123A, you're never locked into one power source.
You remove the SL-B9 battery from the light and connect the included USB-C cord directly to the battery. An indicator on the battery glows green once it's fully charged. Because the pack charges outside the light, you can keep a second SL-B9 or a CR123A ready as backup while one is topping off.
The included key kit lets it mount on a broad range of railed handguns, including popular platforms from Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Beretta, and CZ. On a mid-size pistol like a Glock 19 it typically sits flush with the muzzle, which makes it a great match for carry and home defense.
