You still get useful spill for peripheral awareness, but the real story here is the 60,000 candela hotspot that puts light on things well down range. Two CR123A lithium batteries feed it (both included), and you'll get around 1.5 hours of continuous run time before a swap.
The housing is machined from 6000 series aircraft aluminum with a black anodized finish, and it carries an IPX7 waterproof rating, so a meter of submersion for half an hour won't faze it. The C4 LED is shock-proof and rated for a 50,000 hour lifetime, which is the kind of longevity that means you're replacing batteries, not bulbs. It's a light that's meant to take recoil, weather, and hard handling without blinking.
The one-handed snap-on and tighten clamp is a genuinely nice touch.
