Takedown ARs have been tried plenty of times over the years, and most of them come up short somewhere. The SAINT Edge EVAC is one of the few that gets it right. Springfield built this 5.56 pistol around a Rapid Takedown system that lets you pull the barrel and forend assembly off the upper in seconds, no tools needed. Lock the action open, engage the tab, twist, and the whole front end slides free. Pair that with the Law Tactical Gen 3-M folding adapter and Gear Head Works Tailhook brace out back, and the entire pistol tucks into the included Blackhawk ready bag with room to spare. Reassembly is just as quick, and you're back to a fully functional AR in roughly ten seconds.
The compact footprint doesn't come at the expense of quality. The 7.5-inch barrel is 416 stainless steel with a Melonite finish inside and out, so it shrugs off moisture and hard use, and the muzzle wears Springfield's EVAC blast diverter to tame the concussion you'd normally get from a barrel this short. The billet 7075 T6 lower features the Accu-Tite tension system for a wobble-free fit with the forged upper, and the enhanced M16 bolt carrier group runs a 9310 steel bolt that's been HPT/MPI tested. The nickel boron coated single-stage flat trigger breaks clean with a smooth reset, which makes a real difference when you're running fast follow-up shots.
Springfield sweated the small stuff here too. The slim free-float M-LOK handguard comes with a forward hand stop already installed, the short Reptilia CQG grip keeps the profile trim, and flip-up front and rear sights get you on target right out of the case. QD sling sockets are machined into the lower, adapter, and brace, so sling mounting is sorted from day one. Whether it lives in a truck, a pack, or a closet shelf, the Edge EVAC gives you full 5.56 capability in a package the size of a small duffel, and that's something very few ARs can claim.

Fold the brace and the whole pistol fits in the included Blackhawk bag. Putting it back together takes about ten seconds once you've done it a few times.
No, and that's one of the smartest parts of the design. Your optic mounts to the upper receiver rail while the barrel assembly detaches forward of it, so the sight-to-bore relationship stays consistent. The takedown system locks the barrel back into the same position each time, so zero holds remarkably well between assemblies.
Yes, it ships with polymer flip-up front and rear sights, so it's ready to run right out of the bag. The rear has dual apertures and the front is adjustable, and both fold flat when you want to mount a red dot or other optic on the flat-top rail.
Short 5.56 barrels produce a lot of muzzle blast and concussion, especially indoors or under a roofline at the range. The EVAC blast diverter is Springfield's proprietary muzzle device that pushes gases forward and away from you, which makes this compact pistol much more pleasant to shoot. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 if you ever want to run a different device.
