Springfield Armory listened to what people wanted and rebuilt the Saint Victor from the ground up. The V2 swaps the old government-profile barrel for a 16 inch 4150 CMV continuous-taper barrel with a nitride finish and 1:7 twist, which stiffens the whole front end and spreads heat better during long strings of fire. The two-chamber brake is gone too, replaced by a pinned four-prong flash hider that keeps muzzle flash down without rattling everyone on the firing line next to you. Underneath, a taper-pinned low-profile gas block feeds a mid-length direct impingement system, and the enhanced M16 bolt carrier group runs a 9310 steel bolt that is HPT and MPI tested.
The controls are where this rifle really separates itself from other factory ARs. Springfield includes a Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle, a part plenty of owners buy separately anyway, plus a 45-degree short-throw ambi safety that works cleanly for lefties and righties alike. The nickel boron coated flat trigger breaks clean and smooth, and the flared magwell makes reloads a little more forgiving when you are moving fast. B5 Systems handles the furniture with an Enhanced SOPMOD stock, Type 23 P-Grip, and polymer trigger guard, all sitting on forged 7075-T6 receivers with Type III hardcoat anodizing and Springfield's Accu-Tite tension system keeping the upper and lower snug. The big billboard logo from earlier models is gone, leaving clean, minimal markings.
The free-float aluminum handguard uses a patented triple-lock mounting system with a full-length Picatinny top rail, plenty of M-LOK space for lights and grips, and seven integrated QD cups so your sling mounts wherever you want it. New low-profile aluminum flip-up sights sit noticeably flatter when folded, which matters if you run an LPVO or magnifier. A 30-round Magpul PMAG Gen M3 and a padded rifle case with magazine pouches round out the package. For a defensive carbine, training rifle, or an all-around 5.56 that does not need a single upgrade on day one, the Victor V2 covers the bases.
Quite a bit. The V2 upgrades to a 4150 CMV continuous-taper barrel with a four-prong flash hider instead of the older government-profile barrel and muzzle brake. Yes on both counts. It ships with low-profile aluminum flip-up front and rear sights already installed, so you can zero and shoot the day you pick it up. A 30-round Magpul PMAG Gen M3 is included, along with a padded rifle case that has pouches for extra AR-15 magazines.
It is set up well for it. The full-length Picatinny top rail gives you plenty of mounting room, and the new flip-up sights fold much flatter than the old spring-loaded style, so they will not fight with an LPVO or magnifier. Most owners pair it with a red dot or 1-6x scope and keep the irons as backups.
More than most factory ARs. The Radian Raptor-LT charging handle and the 45-degree short-throw safety are both fully ambidextrous, and there are seven QD sling cups so you can set your sling up on either side. The magazine release and bolt catch are still standard AR pattern, but the ambi controls cover the manipulations lefties fight with most.
