Springfield went back through the Saint Victor with a red pen for the V2, and the changes are the kind people were asking for. The mil-spec charging handle is gone, replaced by a Radian Raptor-LT that you can grab from either side without thinking about it. The safety is now a short-throw 45 degree ambidextrous lever, the old spring-loaded sights got swapped for true low-profile flip-ups that stay tucked down under an optic, and even the oversized logo on the lower disappeared in favor of cleaner, minimal markings. This particular model is the 10-round version, shipping with a single Magpul PMAG.
The barrel is a 16 inch 4150 CMV unit with a continuous-taper profile and Melonite finish, fed by a mid-length gas system with a pinned low-profile gas block. Behind it sits an enhanced M16-style bolt carrier group with a 9310 steel bolt that is HPT tested and MPI inspected, and the receiver extension houses a heavy tungsten H buffer that noticeably smooths out the recoil impulse. The forged 7075-T6 receivers use Springfield's Accu-Tite tension system, so there is no rattle or play between the upper and lower. A flat-faced nickel boron trigger gives you a clean, consistent press without the gritty feel of a standard GI unit.
B5 Systems supplies the Enhanced SOPMOD stock, Type 23 P-Grip, and trigger guard. The SOPMOD is a favorite for good reason, with a wide comfortable cheek weld and storage compartments in the stock itself. Up front, the free-float aluminum handguard carries a full-length Picatinny top rail, plenty of M-LOK slots, and seven integrated QD sling cups spread across the handguard and end plate. Add a light, sling, and optic and you still have room to spare.

Yes. The chamber is cut for 5.56x45mm NATO, which safely handles both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington loads. That gives you plenty of flexibility to run cheaper .223 practice ammo and higher-pressure 5.56 without a second thought.
It does. This model ships with one 10-round Magpul PMAG, but the magwell accepts any standard AR-15 pattern magazine. PMAGs, aluminum GI mags, and other common options all drop right in.
Not really, and that is the whole pitch. The charging handle, trigger, furniture, and sights are the parts people usually replace on entry-level ARs, and Springfield installed quality versions of all of them at the factory. Add an optic and a sling if you want, then head to the range.
